Personal Coaching for Cycling Fitness and Performance

BIKEIOWA is pleased to announce its newest 2008 sponsor – Cyclesport Coaching How would you like to: 1) be able to ride faster 2) be able to climb hills better 3) keep up with your friends on group rides 4) drop your friends on group rides 5) lose weight 6) get in better shape for an upcoming tour 7) learn how to race, or 8) be a better competitive cyclist or triathlete? Then consider working with a cycling coach! It’s easy to get into a routine and end up doing the same rides over and over again. However, if you want to improve your ability as a cyclist you need to train all aspects of cycling – endurance, strength, speed, and skills. And if you are like most of us, you have a limited amount of time to ride and you need to make the most efficient use of that time if you want to improve. Cyclesport Coaching can provide you with a structured program to greatly improve your riding ability without necessarily spending a lot more time on the bike. Working with a cycling coach provides you with a customized online program of daily workouts, on-going consultation with the coach in person, by phone or by email, and testing to monitor the progress you are making. Coaching can be done at a distance through phone, email and the internet, so you don’t even need to live in Iowa to be coached. This program will be tailored to your abilities, goals and schedule, and will provide you with a wide variety of training rides throughout the year.

David particularly enjoys working with recreational cyclists, including those who may not have aspirations to race, but may simply want to improve their fitness level: get faster, gain endurance, or gain strength on hills. They may want to get in better shape for an upcoming tour, or may just want to be able to stay with other riders on group rides. David also enjoys working with first time racers who are making the plunge into competitive cycling and need help learning the ropes. In addition, David can work with you to develop an all-body conditioning program, a cycling strength program, and a weight loss program. David has been a competitive cyclist for more than 35 years, is a certified Level 1 (Elite) Coach with USA Cycling and has been coaching for 7 years. He is also a NSCA Certified Personal Trainer. He coaches the DMCC (DMOS/Bike World) Race Team, and the Greater Iowa JDRF Ride To Cure Diabetes Team. He also coaches individual recreational and competitive cyclists.
