Iowa man gets life in prison for bicyclist's death

Des Moines, IA A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a Des Moines bicyclist in what police say was part of a game to target random victims. Roberto Rodriguez was sentenced to life in prison after a Polk County jury convicted him of first-degree murder on Oct. 13. A judge also sentenced him to 45 years in prison for robbery and burglary charges. The sentences will run back to back. Rodriguez was one of four men charged in the July 2008 stabbing death of Dean Davis. Police say Davis, who was attacked as he bicycled down a street, was chosen at random as part of a game. The other three men charged in the case pleaded guilty to robbery, theft and willful injury in April. Each was sentenced to up to 35 years in prison. Previous Dean Davis news
